Shop and Establishment Act Registration


Any citizen who wishes to open new shop or a commercial establishment wants to commence its business within the jurisdiction of Government of Maharashtra, has to register itself under The Bombay Shops and Commercial Establishment Act, 1948.

The Act regulates the operations of shops and commercial establishments. It was introduced to regulate the hours of work, annual leave with wages, wages and compensation, employment of women and children and other aspects of a shops or commercial establishment.

Registration is required by all business entities, including sole proprietors working out of their homes.

Duties of Shop Act Registered Business


Shop Act registration requires renewal in every three years. Business need to submit all requisite documents along with renewal application to the Department to get the license renewed.
